"And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not." (John 5:37-38 KJV)
"Who has believed our message? To whom has the LORD revealed his powerful arm? My servant grew up the the LORD'S presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful about his appearance, nothing to attract us to him. He was despised and rejected - a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care." (Isaiah 53:1-3 NLT)
The point about them not believing because they have not his word abiding in them, that is a blow to their hearts, they should have realized what Jesus meant. To be clear, they despised Jesus so much, even if they did get the picture He was painting of them, they still would not let it make any difference; this was no just your average hardened heart; they were basically meant to be this way, because this was also the plan of the Father's!
As we see the day drawing near, this is something we must keep in mind, the worse it gets, the better we should be expecting the Lord's coming, and the more we should be pressing into being about our Father's work! These word that Jesus spoke to these Jewish leaders were not meant to change their hearts or make them aware of the mistaken understanding that they had; this was God's way of showing that His word is true and faithful, even if it is a word that is about those that come against Him.
If it is spoken about as that which shall happen, then it is well and good! Not quite sure we totally get that, as the craziness that is happening in our world, seems to be discouraging us, not strengthening us and making us more aware of His soon return! Don't think that I am throwing stones, because us is meant to include me also. In one breath I say, praise the Lord, it is happening just as He said it would; and in the next breath, I am shouting out disapproval for the lawlessness and evil happening everywhere in this world.
On a happier note: There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a groaning in our spirit for what we see taking place all around us; it is more than okay, it is also a key that unlocks our fear to witness and reach out to those around us; that is, if we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us. Yes, we should groan, as it is meant to be for those God is placing in our lives, that we should be groaning for, to do everything within our ability to reach them, starting by praying for them, and then asking for God to open doors of opportunity to share the Truth!
Worship is more than just singing and praising; it is also doing what God wants us to do...
""I have created the blacksmith who fans the coals beneath the forge and makes the weapons of destruction. And I have created the armies that destroy. But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the LORD; their vindication will come from me. I, the LORD have spoken!"" (Isaiah 54:16-17 NLT)
