"Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms." (Psalms 95:2)
Do you know what it means to have a choice, but not have a choice? Well, this is one of those areas where we don't have a choice not to worship God; not if you want to enter into His presence! I know you might know this parable the Lord spoke of, it was the one about the forgiving others, as we have been forgiven; it is found in Matthew 18:21-35. Without getting into a long conversation about the reason why, let me just pretend you already know; but my theory on the reason the wicked servant could not in his heart forgive his fellow servants tiny little debt, was because he knew in his heart that he himself would soon be in debt again to the king. You can't imagine the vast difference there is between 'ten thousand talents' and 'a hundred pence.' On a scale of the average working man's daily wage, one pence might equal one days wage, while one talent might equal 16 years wages; so we might be talking about a hundred days wage verses 160,000 years of wages. It's really quite a tragedy, but could you imagine what it took for the man to get himself in that kind of dealt? At some point, you must pretty much consider yourself as having ownership of the debt; especially when there is absolutely no way that you could ever pay it back, ever! But that's the whole point of the message; it's apples and oranges, two totally different debts; one debt is on a level between us and God, while the other is between one another. It's like the time when Jesus healed the man lowered down through the roof, He said, "Son, thy sins are forgiven thee." But the scribes questioned His authority to say such a thing, so Jesus demonstrated His authority to say such a thing, by saying, "Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house." (Mark 2:1-12) What was easier for Jesus to say, and yet, what was the way that had more healing? It is far better to have your sins forgiven than it is to have your body healed; one is only good enough for a season, while the other counts towards eternity. There is really no comparison between the two; much like there is no way to compare 'ten thousand talents' to 'a hundred pence.' Neither can we compare our ability to be forgiven by God and our opportunity to be able to forgive one another...
""Listen to this message from the LORD, you nations of the world; proclaim it in distant coastlands: The LORD, who scattered his people, will gather them and watch over them as a shepherd does his flock. For the LORD has redeemed Israel from those too strong for them. They will come home and sing songs of joy on the heights of Jerusalem. They will be radiant because of the LORD'S good gifts -the abundant crops of grain, new wine, and olive oil, and the healthy flocks and herds. Their life we be like a watered garden, and all their sorrows will be gone. The young women will dance for joy, and the men -old and young -will join in the celebration. I will turn their mourning into joy. I will comfort them and exchange their sorrow for rejoicing. The priests will enjoy abundance, and my people will feast on my good gifts. I, the LORD, have spoken!"" (Jeremiah 31:10-14) NLT
