"The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook." (Psalms 77:18) First and foremost, living in this world is for us an opportunity for God to shine His light in us; our primary purpose for being here is to share God's love with a world that needs to be saved, if we are not doing that, then our "talents" are not being put to use, and they are buried in the earth. God has given us everything that we need to serve Him well: He has taken away our sins, thereby giving us clean hearts that can boldly proclaim the Gospel with confidence and perfection; He has given us His Spirit, so that we can walk and live in the power of New Life; He has performed everything He needed to do, in order that we might know that all things do work for the good, whether things appear so or not! Do you know why Jesus refused the pain killer? Besides not wanting to miss any portion of redeeming the world, He looked into history, before and ahead, seeing all those killed for their testimony, all of which suffered and died without being offered a pain killer. Don't tell me that Jesus had some sort of supernatural way to ignore the pain, because He took it like a man! "Is this all you got," He proclaimed, as they tried to break His spirit. Darn right "the earth trembled and shook," it did so because the one who held it all together was being ripped apart! And if that were not enough, He was made fun of and ridiculed like some sort of a joke, as He hung there on the cross; by the crowds, by the religious leaders, by the soldiers; all of which He created and held together; all of which He hung there and died for; all of which He asked the Father to forgive, out of their foolish and ignorant hearts. So yes, we have something within us that needs to get out! There is power being generated, but it must flow out; just as water rushing through a power plant to generate power, we must let the Living Water flow out of us. The more it flows, the more it flows! The more that goes out, the more that comes in! That is how the glass gets full...
"The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that the captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD'S favor has come." (Luke 4:18-19) NLT
