"The Promise"
"For such as be blessed of Him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of Him shall be cut off." (Psalms 37:22) Some people just don't understand how God really wants to bless them, instead they think that He is all about cursing or judging them for their sins; when really, it's their sins which curse them and cause judgment, while He has blessed them with a promise of an inheritance, if they would only accept His offer. As easy as it is for His children to understand that, there are still some, even the blessed, that don't quite get the whole inheritance thing; an inheritance is not worked for, it becomes ours by birthright; in other words, we are born into our inheritance. On that day that we were born again by receiving Jesus Christ into our heart, we were born into that inheritance, and nothing can take that away from us; nor do we need to work for it, because it automatically comes with our new birthright. That said, along with this new birth comes new life; a life that is empowered by the Spirit of God, and that is driven by the love of God; therefore, it is not about works, nor is it about trying to keep something which we have already been given; it is about a celebration of the new life which we have been given, where we have not only been given life, but we have been given life abundantly; life which is not of man, nor of the will of man, but is of God. On the other side of that promise, we have the cursed, which are those that could have been, yet have been cut off. Now I don't know what you might believe when it comes to predestination, but the way I see it, only God knows those that He has blessed and those that He has cursed; we on the other hand are to assume that everyone is able to be saved, if they would believe upon Jesus Christ, which is the promise from God; those that are cursed of Him, are cursed already from birth, of which we were all at one time; yet we became the ones which are of the "Whosoever believes", which are those that heard the call and accepted the blessing. Does that mean that God chooses some over others? That might be something related to what He knows, but I do believe that He calls everyone, some more than others; and those that are His hear the call... "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: but he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father. And this is the promise that He hath promised us, even eternal life." (1 John 2:23-25)
