"By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God." (Hebrews 11:5 KJV)
"When Enoch was 65 years old, he became the father of Methuselah. After the birth of Methuselah, Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters. Enoch lived 365 years, walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him." (Genesis 5:21-24 NLT)
There is something we should try to understand about Enoch's departure from this earth, the same way that we will be changed during the Rapture, is the same way the God took Enoch; he was transformed from this earthy form, into that which is eternal and a heavenly form. This is a result of Enoch's walk and fellowship that he had with God.
It is the belief of many, that this time in Enoch's life, which was only 365 years, yet since the time of Creation, his departure was probably 1,200 years or more, and the world was already beginning to draw away from God and start to worship other things. Imagine what it looked like, seeing the difference 250 years of the life of the United States can make; from the time it started until now, there is already many different things that are taking over and changing what was established in the forming of this Nation.
Having fellowship with God is what our faith is all about! This is what Jesus came and died on the cross was meant to do, to allow us to enter into fellowship with our Heavenly Father! This fellowship can only happen because we have been cleansed from sin and made right with God!
As I was thinking about this last night, it reminded me of the great picture that God is painting, one which is where we all live and die; yet we can never really see what it is that He is painting, because we are part of the picture! All that we can do, is to trust in Him and believe in Him; knowing that He loves us and paid a very big price to have fellowship with us...
"All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on him the sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet he never said a word. He was like a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, he did not open his mouth. Unjustly condemned, he was led away. No one cared that he died without descendants, that his life was cut short in midstream. But he was struck down for the rebellion of my people. He had done no wrong and had never deceived anyone. But he buried like a criminal; he was put in a rich man's grave. But it was the LORD'S good plan to crush him and cause him grief. Yet when his life is made an offering for sin, he will have many descendants. He will enjoy a long life, and the LORD'S good plan will prosper in his hands. When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish, he will be satisfied. And because of his experience, my righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for he will bear all their sins." (Isaiah 53:6-11 NLT)
