"For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." (John 1:17 KJV)
"He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. For his unfailing love toward those who fear him is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth. He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west." (Psalm 103:10-12 NLT)
If you are willing to accept it, God is more than willing to pure out His grace, beyond anything you can ever imagine or deserve; if you are willing to accept it! The word, "Remedial," is a somewhat simple word to understand; but it might not be the cure that everyone looks for, nor do they always appreciate what it stands for or represents. It might sometimes give the wrong message, one that places the recipient into a category of someone that has special needs or requires help with living or caring for themselves.
That might be one of those reasons that we must fear God, because we must be helped! The simple answer to our problem might offend some people, those that might feel as if they don't need or require any help; especially when the One who provides the help, is the same One that knows every single thing about them! Oh, I forgot to mention that; the fear factor has just stepped up a notch or two. Do you want to go any further? "Go big, or stay at home." that's what my mom would always say.
You know what, I think I finally realize what that meant. All this time, I thought it meant to do something extraordinary or else just don't do anything; but in reality, it means to cut the strings and freefall into life on your own! It's like that when we put our trust in God, we cannot keep holding on to anything else that might save us; it is His way only, all the way! That might get a little scary sometimes, because His way does not always advise you of what might happen next; but one thing is sure: It guarantees the result!
Please forgive me if I might seem a little over the top; my note taking could not keep up with Pastor Bryan's teaching yesterday, and I might have skipped a few of the important points to the message. But the part I did not miss, was the point that we all are called to serve! Everyone serves somebody, in one way or another; that is the fact of life! Some people serve themselves; some, without knowing, serve the devil; some might serve money or fame; some, however sad, just simply serve anyone else.
When I was in jail for those 6 months, I realized what was the problem with many of the repeat offenders; those are the ones that get out, and are usually right back in. They are those that cannot stand not being told what to do; they are unable to make their lives work without structure or some sort of continuity. At least when they are in jail, they have no worries about food or shelter. Do you think that saying might imply, "Go big, or stay at home"? I guess it depends what home represents...
"Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God though Christ. Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?" (Galatians 4:7-9 KJV)
