"Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:" (Psalms 146:6)
Real truth never needs to be defended! There is really no need to argue with anyone that might not agree with the truth, because the blind will not see anything unless the Holy Spirit opens the eyes of their heart, and He allows them to see the truth. What makes a man or woman, who says they are born again, be offended or scoff at the teaching of the Word of God? How is it possible to even begin to consider the Word is no longer relevant or something to be desired? To be serious here for a moment; whether or not you know it, it is the Word of God has given you New Life! If you were to put that in a relative illustration, it would be the same as telling your parents, those that came together for you to be created in the womb, that they were not relevant to your birth; nor does anything that they are, belong to your existence. Why does a Pastor of any church ever need to apologize to his congregation for opening the Bible and sharing Scripture? Is the Bible just a relic? Something once important, but only now an object of reverence from times gone past? I am sorry, but the truth is, I am more than concerned about some of my brothers and sisters. I get to talk to people all the time, people I don't even know, but that are immediately like family, as we start talking about the Lord and church, or as we share about the wonderful works God has and is doing. But as soon as I mention Bible study, or happen to start talking about how much I enjoy my church's way of teaching through the Bible, they clam up and roll their eyes back, as if I just ruined their day. I truly believe this is something we need to talk about, because there most be a Foundation to the faith that we place our hope in! If it is not the Word of God, then where is the foundation of your faith? Is it the Holy Spirit? Not quite sure how that looks, because you cannot have the Holy Spirit without the Word! Is it the Father in Heaven? Is that where you place the foundation of your faith? Without the Word of God, you don't even know the Father, nor can you know the love He has for you. This is the point John makes in the beginning of his Gospel Message: Without the Word, we do not exist...
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made." (John 1:1-3)
