PSALMS 140 [To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.]
Whether you believe it or not, we are living in some very interesting times. There are things going on in this world, that had anyone said it would happen 50 years ago, they would be laughed at and called crazy. This Psalm is said to have been written in the time when David was being persecuted by Saul. Whether or not that is the case, is really not as important as the message about the aggression that evil people have against those that want to believe in and follow the Lord. It use to be that you would get persecuted for trying to persuade others to listen and believe in your religion; now you can be persecuted for just having a religion you believe in. Once you open up a door to evil, it is hard to shut it again; especially once a large percentage of the population is in favor of it being open. The earth-dwellers are always the loudest! If you don't think that is true, examine the crowd that shouted for Jesus to be crucified, because in that moment, they clearly said, "We will not have this man rule over us! Crucify him!" Did you hear of any people yelling the opposite? No way that was going to happen, not with an angry mob shouting and saying things that were totally evil. This is a perfect picture of what is happening in many places today. People that are considered to be far left, they cannot tolerate anyone that might have a different opinion; and they surely will not let that opinion be expressed openly, not if they can do something to stop it. In many ways, David was a type of Christ; as are so many of His followers. Jesus clearly said, "If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first." (John 15:18 NLT) There is a very special reason that Jesus was hated, and why we are hated too; because He was not of this world, and neither are those that follow Him. Our home is in Heaven; which is a place that is not foreseeable to those that do not believe in Christ Jesus. They do not understand it, because they do not believe that it is real; and if they do believe there is a place, the place they look to is altogether different and fulfills there own desires. More than ever before, we must hold true to the teachings in the Bible; believing what God says, because God has said it; and stop letting anyone try and tell you He does not mean what He says...
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
