"Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt." (Psalms 70:2) So about that mountain, what a sight that must have been to behold; and you would think that it would have made some sort of lasting impact upon the lives of all who witnessed the voice of God, right? There is a reason we must stay connected, and there is a reason that God keeps us searching for answers, it's called wanting! When we quit wanting to hear from God, we need to be put in our place; in other words, we need to be reminded how much we need God, and what a privilege it is to be able to hear His voice, and not have to keep trying to guess what God wants us to do. I have tried to figure things out on my own, and let me tell you from experience, it's not fun having to redo what you started, only because you did not ask God to help you from the beginning. Here is an interesting thought on what this verse might be speaking about, because in the end, we are all going to be responsible for our own choices that we made; regardless of who told us what, or how deceived we might have been, or even if we just did not know any better; we had better know the truth, and we had better listen. Personally, I think the devil is behind all the false religions in this world. Sure, they were all started by men, but the devil is the father or lies, so it only is fitting to call it like it is. But, I must remember something about the fall, Adam was not deceived, he disobeyed God's instruction. And it wasn't really all that complicated to understand what God had said; it's not like he had been given a list of things not to do; just the opposite was the case. God gave Adam a grocery list of all the wonderful things he got to do, but only one thing that he was forbidden to do; just one little thing out of all the do's, was a don't! I know I have said this before, but sometimes we really are our own worst enemy; if we could only just follow directions, that might give us some kind of a chance; but that would make it too easy, and like most of the kids today, we would end up being bored...
"When God spoke from Mount Sinai His voice shook the earth, but now He makes another promise: "Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also." This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain. Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping Him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire." (Hebrews 12:26-29) NLT
