"Blinded by The Light"
"My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise." (Psalms 57:7) Micah is a pretty intense Book; when you get right down to it, when it comes to social and national sins, he hit the nail on the head. It's pretty complex to try and figure out, but the church can not help but be effected by the standards set by the world; it's meant to be the other way around, especially here in the United States, a country that was founded on the Bible and God's laws, not the rule of man. More and more, and little by little, the Word of God has become less of a standard within our modern day society; and when you try and defend it, you are laughed at more than praised for doing so. Here we have that word "fixed" that I spoke of earlier, which does not mean fixing something broken, although it might not hurt to fix the direction that this country is headed if we could just fix our eyes on Jesus; but it means to be firm, stable, and established; to be fixed or to be securely determined; to be directed aright, be fixed aright, be steadfast (moral sense); you get the general point, you are only as fixed as what you fix your heart upon, and nothing is as fixed as God. The more I think of it, the more I truly believe it's pretty much time that we see Jesus; although the world will not see Him yet, the church will; instantly, and without a warning, we will be transformed and gone. Jesus said that in the last days it would be like this, yet I constantly hear people of God say that we need to try and change it. How can we change what God has said would happen? Much like in the day of Micah, the prophets were told by the establishment to keep quiet, and the people were so insensitive to the problem that they believed God would still defend them. What we need now are voices crying out in the wilderness, "Get ready to meet Jesus!", because there is no fixing what does not want to be fixed. The general message that I believe God has given me this morning is all about "Keeping our eyes on Jesus"; it is Christ who must light our way, therefore we must fix our eyes on Him as our Standard, not the standards of this world; if we place ourselves above the standards of this world, we really have not set standards that are very high; the standards of this world have become based upon man's law, not God's laws, so even the highest standard of the world does not even come close to God's Standard... "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; looking for the blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee." (Titus 2:11-15)
