"Majestic Peaks"
"O love the LORD, all ye His saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer." (Psalms 31:23) What kind of title is this, you may be wondering; Majestic Peaks, sounds like the tops of mountains, or tall trees, or some other form of power displayed by it's height or majesty; right? Yes indeed; there is a form of pride which is good to have, and it closely resembles that of the majestic mountain tops, or the glorious redwoods; which is not at all a boastful of arrogance, but rather, it boasts in that of which it has been made! The "proud doer" which David is speaking of here, in this spectacular final turn of the roller coaster ride, is that of proudly doing what you know that you have been made to do; as if you can say boldly and confidently: "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". (Philippians 4:13) As simply put as that statement might appear, it is not something which is realized over night, and it usually involves several trials and tribulations to work the patience part of understanding into the confident hope we have in Christ; especially when it comes to our ability to do all things! But then again, that's what it means to be "faithful"; it's not just that ability to have faith, but the ability to confirm the faith that we have, and to establish it; to verify that it is so, and to walk accordingly! God has made us for His purposes, and we must walk in that; for it is in that by which we gain the confidence to walk further, because we know that whatever might happen along the way, it is His purpose for our life by which go through whatever it is. This is where our commitment to the Lord is tested; not that God will test us, because He has no need for that; but that we are tested for our own benefit of the experience of living the test, by which we gain understanding in not only what God can do, but in how sure we can be that He will do it; by which we can walk in the pride of knowing Who's hand we are in... "Hearken unto Me, My people; and give ear unto Me, O My nation: for a law shall proceed from Me, and I will make My judgement to rest for a light of the people. My righteousness is near; My salvation is gone forth, and Mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon Me, and on Mine arm shall they trust. Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but My salvation shall be for ever, and My righteousness shall not be abolished." (Isaiah 51:4-6)
