"Apprehended Of Christ Jesus"
"Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect; but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: But this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark for the prize of the High Calling of God in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 3:12-14) Do you know why a cow is always chewing and chewing? It is because they have something like seven stomachs, and they just keep regurgitating their food, and re chewing it, over and over. This is how we must take in God's Word; to get all that it has for us; all the layers upon layers of information which is needed for every portion of our daily lives. There is something which had happen when we first came to Christ, which is rather important for us to remember, and that is that we were apprehended by The Light. It really is not just a little thing, because, before we came to Christ, we were trapped in darkness; but as soon as we received Jesus into our hearts, we were instantly transformed, and delivered from the darkness, and into His Glorious Light. Now, because we are still here, in this mortal flesh, we must continually still deal with the darkness, for we are still surrounded by the darkness; but within us, we have been given the Light. What this actually means for our daily life in Christ, is that we are constantly having to deal with the darkness; but it does not rule over us. Why? Because: "Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world". This is something which we must believe and practice as we deal with issues of darkness, even those issues which we have within our own lives. We have been apprehended by the Light of Jesus Christ; and as such, we must press forward, through the darkness, and into His Light. That might sound a little confusing, but really, it all has to do with this mortal body that still holds us here on this earth. Because we are held here in this body of corruption, we are still going to be held in some form of darkness; in other words, there is still always going to be a battle between our flesh and the Spirit. The flesh will always want to be in darkness, because that is where it has fellowship; the things of the flesh are comfortable in the darkness; but the Spirit does not fellowship with the darkness; and in fact, will cause the darkness to flee, because it is Light. Therefore, we must pursue the Light, which we have been apprehended by, in order to overcome the darkness which is still present in our lives. It is kind of like chewing and chewing... "For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but He that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the Name of the Only Begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that Light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than Light, because their deeds were evil." (John 3:17-19)
